My gorgeous ginger tom Frankie became ill and listless last night, so trip to emergency vet. Kept in over night and given pain killing injection and antibiotics. No better this morning. Very high temperature which wouldn't come down, so this afternoon he was sedated and x-rayed, and an air rifle pellet was found lodged in the wall of his abdomen. Fortunately it appeared to have missed his vital organs. He was operated on this afternoon to remove the pellet which had set up an infection. Latest news, he has survived the operation but is still very ill. So will be staying at vets for the time being. The police are going to collect the pellet from vets so that they can identify the type of air-rifle used. Hoping for a full recovery, but the worrying thing is there are small children who live next door, plus other pets around our small, rural, and very quiet cul-de-sac. How sick can some people be, it's beyond me. Some hooligan on the loose with an air-rifle is scary, and I hope for the animals and childrens sake that the person responsible is soon caught.
Oh Schutzengel, I'm so sorry to hear about Frankie - what a horrible thing to happen. I can't understand how anyone coud do that, I'd be soooo angry if anyone harmed either of my two flea bags! I'm glad he seems to be on the mend and really hope he makes a full recovery soon.
Lots of love to Frankie and you!

Madboutcats. Thank you again Mary. What a lovely idea, I think you are right that Frankie would love to hear my voice. But I don't suppose all the other cats in the hospital wing at the vets would be any too happy hearing a strange voice. Thank you too for the prayers for Frankie and me. love Sheila.
Hi Cathy, that's just what is needed - all fingers, toes, paws crossed. :-). Love to Little Frankie puss, and love especially to Jack for his prayers, and all the family. love Sheila.
Hi Wolf. When Frankie gets over his ordeal and is back to normal (I hope), I'll probably be wishing I could put him in a hard hat and a bullet proof vest. I must admit I'll be watching him like a hawk, as I'll be so scared that something else might happen to him. I can just imagine what he would look like dressed up in a hard hat etc., as he has enormous eyes, and just reminds me of the cat in the film Shrek, I thought the cat was the real star of the film, but then I would wouldn't I. love Sheila.
Hello again Bensmum. I'm so pleased to know that Flossie is improving. Cats are so constitutionally strong, it's just amazing. I am still praying for Flossie, and will continue to do so. Please let me know if there is any more improvement. love Schutz.
Hi Ruthann. No further news today, and perhaps no news is good news. I'll have to wait to see what tomorrow brings, but will let you know. Thanks on Frankie's behalf, and mine. Love Schutz.
Best wishes to Frankie tomorrow,Schutz.
Cat-bless 'em,are such resiliant creatures. I suspect that rest, and time, will soon see Frankie back to his old, healthy self.
Both I and Caspar (my purr-box) will be thinking of you tomorrow. xx
Thank you for the personal reply Shutzengel. There really is no need, but it's much appreciated. I guess responding to each message helps keep you occupied instead of mulling it over and driving yourself round the bend with anger and worry.
I'll check in again after work tomorrow to find out the latest news on Frankie's progress. Hoping to hear that his condition has changed for the better and you're closer to having him back home where he belongs.
K8bailey. I do appreciate your message and good wishes, it's been a horrible few days so far, but hopefully Frankie will turn the corner soon. Thank you for the love sent, it really does help.
Lots of Love to your Frankie and Elvis, and you too.
From Felix and Tansy, and me, and I'm sure Frankie will be sending his love too when he's better. Will post an update on Frankie on Monday. Schutz.
Hello again Schulz , thank you for keeping us up to date , it's good of you to pop on here when your mind must be preoccupied . Frankie is still in my thoughts xxx
Hi Pasta. thank you. keeping fingers crossed for tomorrow. Sending lots of love to Caspar. I love his picture and quite often go back to have another look at him. Goodnight for now. Schutz.
Aprilis. Thank you once again. Will post tomorrow's news. You are quite correct, it is such a help to read the replies from all the lovely people on here, (and the messages from their pets), and it does stop me from tearing my hair out, when I have to calm down and think sensibly in order to reply to each person. So Goodnight for now. Much love. Schutz.
Bensmum - I must have missed your post abot Flossie - best wishes for her. Getting old isn't easy for any of us.
Schutz - Cats have such big personalities and voices that we tend to forget how small and vulnerable they are. They are so pathetic looking when they are sick. My wee Frankie is trying to tell me that he wants "more" supper. He has already eaten his own and his sisters.
Remember Frankie has his own saint - I named mine after Saint Francis he was previously called Greebo - which is some devil cat from a book. !
Schutz Praying for you + Frankie, big time. Keeping all fingers + toes crossed + my dog is keeping his paws crossed for your tomcat, too. Here's hoping he makes a speedy recovery soon. Your cat looks like Puss In Boots from Shrek- what a cutie!! Has he a voice like Anthonio Banderas;-) ? Thinking of you all- Schutz + hubby + Frankie + send love to you all. (i) angels keep you all safe(i) too. Your friend, Bea :-)
Good morning everyone. Thank you to Aprilis, Afcjan & Rocky, Wolf & Frankie and Merlin, and Bea & family (including the dog), for the latest messages. Appointment at vets is at 1.30pm today. Thanks to everyone for continued support, I feel a wreck this morning, but hoping for good news later. Will let you know what the situation is with my Frankie when I get back. Bensmum how is Flossie today, thinking of you and her. Much love to all. Schutz.
