I just want to do well for myself but feel like I'm worth nothing

At least you're trying Abbey. Have you ever considered finding yourself a 'Lucky' coin... to help with your decision making.

Truth be told it doesn't really matter what others opinions are... although you've being given some great advice but seem to ignore it. Just try for the love of gawd have a little bit more confidence in yourself.

Abbey, I'm sorry you feel this way, but I wish you would understand that there is no way you can afford a car.

Have you ever added up how much it costs just to drive a car never mind buy one?

There is Road Tax, Car Insurance, Breakdown Cover, Petrol, repairs, and new tyres when needed.

Perhaps someone could be kind enough to work out how much it costs and you will realise it is out of your reach.

I'm trying to imagine dealing with this person face-to-face and remaining even tempered and objective.

I will ask for one for my birthday and pay all when I get a full time job

Approx 298 a month plus purchase price

Sorry? You will ask for what for your birthday?

Question Author

Car

Really? Does your parents currently give you £3000 for your birthday?

Question Author

Not quite but hopefully things change by then

Have you got a particular type and age of car in mind, and a fair idea of the price of  your ideal car?

Abbey - do you know what you are asking for?  I've tried to keep out of this, but you do need to keep your feet on the ground.  I spend £20 - £30 on my daughters' birthday presents.

After a lifetime of working very hard in a very difficult job, I find it difficult to afford a car and keep it going - and it is essential for us.  You can get around by bus, taxis etc..

Please, please go to see your doctor and really talk to your mum on Mother's Day.  It's a good opportunity and you cannot carry on like this; you cannot and you know it inside, I'm sure.

Well done with applying for the Tesco's job.  If you get it you will (in a few months) be able to pay your debts and start saving up for driving lessons.  When you have those, save up for a car.  That's how to do it.  Good luck.

Question Author

Not yet.

That exactly where I want to be at when I get a full time job.

And do you still want your own place to live within the next 12 months once you've got your car?

Question Author

Well I want to meet someone more

Whatever job you get, you must put work, and not your social life first. Taking unpaid holidays will not get you out of this mess.

If..IF...your parents buy you a car, can you afford to run and maintain it, as well as all the other things you want?

Maybe your father will sell the motor-home and buy you a car from the proceeds?  Does he use it often?

That's fine, but do everything the right way around this time.  Do without until you have saved-up enough.  Debt is horrible to get out of - as you are learning.  I still say 'speak to your mum' about your current problems.

It won't happen the moment you get a job.

1) Job

2) Stick to it

3) Pay off debts

4) Save-up for the things you want.

5) Ties in with No.4.  Do not, repeat not, waste your money on       bottomless brunches, Disney etc., etc.  If you do spend on        them - then you can't save for a car. Work it out.  Good luck.

What about a bike instead of a car to start off with? Much cheaper.

How would you know if my father got a motor home?
