My daughter has just had her first pregnancy confirmed - woop woop! They've taken her bloods and she is type D rh negative. I thought there were only 4 groups, D not being one of them, is it rare, is there anything special she should be doing/not doing? Not a medical/scientific person so answers in words of one syllable please

I have never heard of Blood type D.

ABer slaney is an expert in this field or perhaps Peter Pendant, so I would suggest that you fao them both in the Body and Soul Section.

Eddie is correct.......^^
I'm Rh O - and after having suffered a miscarriage I had to have an anti D injection, is that anything to do, with it?
Netibiza, I think that is something you have when you're Rh negative and your first baby - sorry - is Rh positive.

So is it quite normal? Does it present any problems?
Thanks everyone for your input btw.
About 15% of the population are Rhesus D negative.
The only difference it will make to your daughter's pregnancy is that she will need an injection of Anti D immunoglobulin to prevent antibody formation.

This is routine these days and there is no need to worry.
