The Treaty of Versailles was the peace settlement signed after World War One. The even toccurred at the Versailles Palace near Paris - hence its title - between Germany and the Allies.... Most historians believe it held all the seeds of World War II and the rise of Hitler...
As an aside, the actual signing was accomplished in passenger rail car. When France surrendered to Germany in WW II, Hitler found the same rail car, transported it to the Forest de Compi�gne and humiliated France (if that was possible) by having them sign their surrender in the same car...

I can understand your reasoning, Steve, but if you think about it for a minute, what other purpose does this site serve, other than the opportunity to ask almost any question and expect a reasonable answer? If everyone that came on did do their own research this entertaining venue would soon shrivel on the vine, no?
I agree. it's very late and I would never have thought of asking that question, but that's how I like my history.. in a nutshell!
