Hi how do I stop the annoying messenges that keep appearing warning me about this that and the other?

If you're talking about the alerts you get in MSN Messenger when a contact comes online for example, then, in the main window, go to Tools > Options>Alerts and sounds. There you uncheck the boxes under Alerts and you should be done.

or if you are referring to random advert messages that appear on your screen (not pop-ups!) as soon as an internet connection is made, you will need to disable the "messenger" service (this is different/separate to MSN Messenger so dont get confused).

To disable the messenger service:

Press START, then RUN. Type services.msc and press Enter. From the window that appears, look for the Messenger service. Double click it, and select STOP and then the DISABLE options.
