I am just trying out Firefox - but what is thunderbird and Mozilla please?

Are Mozilla and Thunderbird part of Firefox or completely separate? I'm a bit confused as I'm completely new to Firefox - still trying it out - so far so good!! Any info and/or tips on using Firefox would be great too!! Many thanks

Take time to have a good look at the downloadable extensions which will customise Firefox to suit you personally.

One of the most useful is IEtab, which allows the few sites that aren't compatible with firefox to open in IE mode.
SessionSaver is also excellent - it opens Firefox exactly as it was closed.

There are a number of projects that come under the Mozilla flag :
Firefox - a web browser
Thunderbird - an email client
Mozilla Browser - another web browser
Camino - another web browser for the Macintosh
Bugzilla - A bug tracking system used for all the above projects.

Firefox lets you add extensions to make it do exactly what you want it to do. There are some great ones there. Also, it has tabs too, which is much better than having lots of windows open with all your websites.
Here are some of my favourite extensions:
Tab Mix Plus - customise your tabs, and has a session saver so if firefox or your computer crashes you don't lose the sites you were browsing
Fasterfox" target="_blank">http://fasterfox.mozdev.org/">Fasterfox - speeds up your browsing
Adblock Plus - removes annoying adverts from websites so you can read without distractions
Adblock Plus Updater - updates the above extension automatically for you, blocking all the latest adverts
This is a very handy list too:
