How To Search For A Patent Application By Application

I'm creating a website, and on doing some research on competitors, I noticed a Patent Application for the same process I'm trying to design. However, going onto the UK Patent website I can't find anything on the Patent Application and I can't find anywhere to search by Patent Application. Any advice please.

I noticed the patent application number 1234567.1 (example) on the footer of the competitors webpage. Im trying to found more information about the patent before I proceed, to make sure Im not heading into trouble.

Don’t you think that looks like a made up patent number?

Thanks for your assistance. It was missing the GB from the front of the application number. Ive found what i need. It says 'Terminated before granted', which I assume means not granted?

I would think so. It could mean that the person trying to patent the idea ran into legal issues. This could be a signal that you might, also. There are Patent Attorneys which may be a sensible next step in saving you a lot of time and effort.
