I have a grandchild in social services long term fostering.I have not seen him since he was 3 months old. My daughter and her boyfriend proved to have poor parental skills amd were negligent..None of this my fault, but apart from writing letters and sending presents I am not allowed to see him, which I find very difficult...I ask and implore social services but they just fob me off telling me they have a duty of care to my Grandchild..he is six now..any suggestions

I can't begin to imagine the pain and sadness, but you can only go with what has been decided for him in law.

Grandparents have very few in the way of rights.

Keep whatever contact you have by post etc open and hope and pray that one day he'll know how much you care.
As a grandparent, you do not have any visiting rights.

In certain circumstances, when the child was taken away, you could have applied for Kinship fostering yourself. As that was not done at the time, there is little you can do now.

It was suggested I could adopt when he was 1.but it was impossible to bring him up myself. I have a full time job and already had 4 teenagers living in my already crowded house. It was impossible to even consider.
