When I was driving to work early on Sunday morning, I heard my first christmas song on the radio. It was Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade. Has anyone else heard christmas songs on mainstream radio this November? Don`t you think it`s a bit too early for that kind of thing?

I agree Boxtops. A few days ago, I drove past a house that was completely lit up with lights. I wonder expensive their electricty bill will be?
I often wonder how much the bills are for those good folk who go mad at Christmas but have a charity collection box outside their gate, for people to donate in appreciation of their show.
>>>It was Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade.

If I go into any shop and this song is playing I walk straight out again.
If it is a song I like I don't mind hearing it at other times.
On digital radio the Smooth Christmas station has been on for at least a week
two music channels on my television package have been belting them out 24/7 since last thursday !!

@VHG - that`s my favourite christmas song. Only because it reminds me of being a pre-teen at school and dancing to it at the school disco. It`s not about the song, it`s about the memories and feelings it invokes. I wonder why there aren`t many memorable christmas songs from this era? They all seem to be from the 1970s and early 80s.

Yes and havent we heard them OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again.

There are hundreds of Xmas songs, but they always seem to play the same half a dozen.

One of the pubs in the town have had the Xmas trees up and all the windows are full of lights ...and the local social club is playing xmas music...this has been going on for over a week ..I think it's a tad sad as far to early..
Once I hear "Keeping the Dream Alive" by Freiheit, I always know that Christmas is on it's way.
Scott Mills on Radio 1 always plays Mariah's "All I want for Christmas" in October. :)
Definitely taboo until at least 1st December.

If it all starts too early then you're sick of it come Christmas. I work right up until Christmas, get home at teatime on the 24th and that's when we rush round like headless hens putting the decorations up. That is half the fun, rushing about the place with tinsel in your hand with a playful cat dangling off the other end.

I heard them last Sunday... too early.

When you think it's only 4 weeks away now it's not too bad.

Christmas Eve is way too late to put the decs up Spikey
