I am looking to get a couple of fairly large indoor house plants. Not sure what the best type to get are as I am NOT green fingered so they have to be easy maintenance. The room has patio doors so plenty of day/sunlight but it does not have any heating so is cold during the winter - any ideas?

have a look at houseofplants.co.uk, there's pictures and descriptions of lots of them there, and how to look after them. my son has a zamioculcas zamifolia in his flat and it's great, needs very little attention and always looks nice.
Yucca's, Parlour Palms and Rubber Plants are all big showy houseplants and just like watered now n then.

Ye know TKMaxx sell really life-like fake trees for under 20, theyre gorgeous and need no heat or mainetnance, its worth a thought if youre not green-fingered.
What town is TKMaxx in weeal?
I had a castor oil plant, which I brought when it was about 6" tall and it grew into a beautiful plant and grew quite big quite quickly. It outgrew my flat, but I didn't realise until after I'd got rid of it, that you can trim them and they will survive quite happily! A Parlour Palm is another nice plant which doesn't need a lot of maintenance.
