What also should not be overlooked here is that , even if these people are found eventually to be innocent ; there is always going remain the stigma of being accused of such a crime , in the first place .
I agree with em10 - whether you like or loathe him , should not be of importance - what is important is whether he is or is not guilty of the accusations

Max Clifford is a nice man, as it happens [Oops! I mean 'as a matter of fact' ]. Can't blame him for doing his job well; that would be like condemning a defence solicitor or barrister as a bad person because they did their best for their client, who may well be odious.
He advised my ex once, when she was about to divorce the husband after me , a public figure who had the might of a big PR machine behind him. He gave her an hour of his time, all stories on both sides were spiked before publication, and he never even charged her for it. Perhaps that would have been good PR for him, but the for the fact that she was hardly going to publicise it. The one interesting thing he said was that the vast bulk of his time was not spent in publicising people's stories but in stopping stories being published! Cheaper than libel actions and far more effective.
As to the arrest, well,it surprises me a bit, but given what we now know about the entertainment industry and the way life was conducted in it, perhaps it shouldn't.

So all these people who have been allegedly been abuse many years ago are suddenly coming out of the woodwork accusing wealthy people in the public eye. I'm not saying they don't have a case but how is it going to be proved after all these years? After all mud sticks and if it's found there is no case to answer then these people who have been accused will be stigmatised for the rest of their lives.
He's very nice to talk to actually. He was a regular customer in a shop I worked in in south London .Came in every week for his bread and cakes and always bought us girls a box of chocs for Christmas .One of my colleagues went to school with him . He adored his wife who sadly died from lung cancer and he has a disabled daughter.I speak as I find .
