This puts Cummings' drive into perspective, doesn't it?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8394281/Priti-Patel-calls-Black-Lives-Matter-protesters-stay-home-Covid-threat.html

Where are the people who lost their minds (many on this site) about Cummings' going for a drive now?

...because he did?
I feel we’ve been here before :0(
Two things:

1. I'm anxious about the health effects of this. Everybody should be.

2. The people protesting on the streets didn't set government policy then break it.

I obviously wasn’t clear.

Some people absolutely lost their minds that Cummings went for a drive, and yet some of those same people thing 000s of people closely congregating in London is ok.

Strange that.

Even you must see the difference, right?

Surely you're posting this simply to play devil's advocate.
“ This puts Cummings' drive into perspective, doesn't it? “

You comparing A long history of systematic racism To some dopey fool driving 30 min to get his eyes tested?
Not to mention the Dopey fool was the one who told us not to do such things...

Cunmings has screwed the lockdown with his defiance, it had respect till his refusal to apologise or admit what he did wasn’t essential.

Racism is actually more damaging to society than coronavirus, if you dont think it is then you’re not educated enough to be starting these kind of threads
“ The people protesting on the streets didn't set government policy then break it.“

Yeah this

The Devil at 8.28.

You’re joking right?

I was comparing people going nuts over a car of 4 people, to 000s of people congregating in London.

The former was so evil and bad, but the latter is seemingly ok.
Which came first Dominic’s drive or the protesters ? I’d say this protest get Boris and domnic of the hook .
Once again the familiar argument is presented - A is bad, but B is worse, therefore comparted to B, A mustn't be so bad after all.

It's very familiar, it's trotted out regularly, but it's not logical and it's not valid.
Well, Cummings broke the spirit of the lockdown rules (he drew up himself), and Prati Patel and the rest thought it was Ok, no problem, acceptable and nothing to fuss about.
3 weeks later when the dusky plebs do the same, it is suddenly hypocrisy, double standards and justification for Cummings elitist arrogance.

You can’t have it both ways, defend Cummings to the hilt, and then when the unwashed rabble copy him, they are scum.
TD, double the dose of your medication!
Gromit, //3 weeks later when the dusky plebs do the same//

Cal them what you will - but they aren't doing the same.

If anything, these people are alienating many of those who would otherwise have no hesitation condemning inequality.
20.53 , I thought this was going to help bring about Boris and Dominic,s Downfall.
Piggynose 22.07, Maybe you could find a little corner to lie down in.
“ I was comparing people going nuts over a car of 4 people, to 000s of people congregating in London. ”

Not really relevent given the political background behind each situation!

What do you expect from this thread. I’m in full support of the protests.
‘ Some people absolutely lost their minds that Cummings went for a drive, and yet some of those same people thing 000s of people closely congregating in London is ok’

Erm, no they don’t. Your argument is unfounded.
Perversely, the London ‘gatherings’ have zero to do with Cummings.

I do wish people would stop trying to prove some sort of idiotic point by attempting to conflate 2 completely separate things.
Question Author
I wasn't comparing the Cummings' escapade with the absurd protests in London.

The point I was (poorly, clearly) making was that people lost their minds over Cummings not following a guideline, and yet I bet many of those who did lose their mind, think the protest is OK.
But that’s unprovable. Yes, there are probably some people who think like that but, so what? Their thoughts in no way put cumming’s trip ‘into perspective’. You might as well say that the people who ‘lost their minds’ (a rather strange phrase in itself) also think the price of cheese in Tesco is high. They may well do but it proves nothing.
