Boris J has announced new distancing rules for family gatherings outside the home (so applying to pubs, parks, other people’s houses, etc).
Known as the Cousin Rule, it allows cousins to visit cousins, but NOT 2nd cousins. The fine for visiting 2nd cousins has not been announced. Phoning cousins is still not allowed, but texting 2nd cousins is okay, except for maternal cousins once removed, where the strict guidelines apply. This of course applies only to England. If your 2nd cousin once removed on your mother’s side was born in Scotland before 1985, you can speak by phone, but not by text.
Emmie, I think it's sarcasm (& very funny). I think it was Oscar Wilde who said that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligence.
Some people on Facebook etc are pretty good at picking holes but not so good at making constructive suggestions. But this is Chatterbank, the home of chat and nonsense.
I was prompted to satirise the latest Rules change after hearing it on the box, and saying "What? what?" - I really found it confusing, and I don't meet anybody!
It must be difficult for the government to keep up with the changing circumstances surrounding Covid19,especially when the rules and the advice for local areas conflicts with the advice given to the public as a whole.
