3 MEN BUY A TELLY FOR �30.THIS WORKS OUT AT �10 EACH.as the men were leaving the shop the owner tells his assistant that there is a sale on and the telly is now priced at �25.He tells his assistant to give themback �5.The assistant pockets�2 for himself and gives the 3men only �3 so that means the men have only paid �9 each which amounts �27 .The assistant has �2 which he pocketed so that TOTALS �29 so where has the other �1 gone.

The men only saved �3 on the TV, so it cost them �27 in total. �27 - �25 = �2, which is the money in the assistant's pocket. It should have been �25 - �2 rather than �25 + �2. Its �25 you're trying to reach, not �30, as that is the new amount they should have paid.
