My little boy cat Frankie started coughing and wheezing on Friday night. He seemed bright enough so I decided to take him to the vet on Saturday morning.

However come breakfast time on Saturday he seemed much brighter and was demanding food.

By mid afternoon he was wheezing again. I had to call the vet out and he checked him over and said that it was either an allergy or asthma. He gave Frankie an anti-inflammatory jag and an anti-biotic. These last seven days.

He is still a bit quiet but is eating and seems bright enough - but I always worry too much when my furry bairns are ill.

Has anybody else had a cat with this sort of problem? All I want to do is cuddle him to make him better.

Sorry cannot offer any advice on the problem, I've only experienced this with a dog :-(

Poor Frankie hope he gets better soon xx Sending cuddles and love from my two x
Not very helpful I know, but our two cough and wheeze when they have eaten a bird........I suppose that it is the feathers that irritate.

wolf...if you are female...cuddle me instead......if you are male......forget it LOL
Yes sqad she is female - behave yourself!

Thanks squad and rinkins.

Do people worry about human children this much? I would make myself sick.

Saturday was horrendous. I had screwed up the transition from one antidepressant to another and was in withdrawal from imipramine. I felt like I had a dose of the flu - going hot and cold - and I was shaking and anxious and felt like death. When we were at the vets he sat there looking so healthy - looking around the surgery and watching the vet.

I have phoned the surgery and they say that the jags are a full weeks course of drugs and if he gets worse to bring him in.

He is usually like a hoover when it comes to eating food - but he actually missed a meal today!

Cant offer any advice other than hope he gets well soon - but why is it they always get ill on a weekend with expensive vet charges! Whats wrong with being ill on a weekday when normal rates apply - I'm sure they do it deliberately!

Fingers crossed he gets well soon - perhaps he just has a cold!
Hey wolf how are you and Frankie doing? x
Do domestic cats actually eat birds?

The puss that stalks the wild birds in my garden just leaves the bodies on my lawn.
Count yourself lucky Mrs C, the last one my cat brought in (bird murderer) he left it right outside my bedroom door
:-s

The one before that he/she (haven't identified which murderer yet) left a bl00dy great blackbird right next to my chair in the dining room.

The decapitated mouse he left outside - happy days

Frankie has just been to the vet again. The vet gave him another shot of antibiotics and said that if things don't improve they will x-ray his lungs next week.

On the bright side today's appointment cost me less than 2 compared to the 85 for Saturday.
Morning wolf x Glad to hear they are keeping an eye on him, I hope he improves and feels all betterer againn very soon x Hope you are Ok x
