hi, my friend had loads of awesome pictures on her digital camera and she was messing around and clicked format and they have all dissapeared. Does anyone know what has happened or how to get them back? (this happened last night)

when you click on format it wipes everything off the memory card as it does with hard drives on pcs. It is very difficult to get photos back although there is software to recover data from hard drives but not aware of any for recovering data from memory card sorry.

It's worked for me previously so it's worth a go at least.

On most cameras you can LOCK a picture which stops your deleting it or formatting.

Suggest she locks pictures in future before downloading them to her PC and backing them up.
Virtual No Hoper, Format means format, as in GONE!!

there is few bit of software that could get it back but its not easy software and u have to be quite a bit of a pc buff to use the software.
