Followinup my question on theabove I thank you all for our replies.Howevr the PC has come with 60 day free Norton which i HAVE CLICKED ON but have not yet installed the Kerparsky. What is going to be the best for me pay up in 60 days for Norton or install the "K" when the Norton expires. What about the Free avg? do I need 1 2 0r all 3. I have read somewhere that more than 1 will fight each other.
I want to get this right as most likely it will be the last PC I will ever buy. I must ay the installing of the system was a piece of cake, but have not managed to get the TV side yet but will keep trying TIA

Don't use more than one anti-virus, they'll most likely conflict.

I'd recommend Avast.

AVG is a (mainly) an anti virus product. It will ONLY look for viruses and thats all.

But computer security is MUCH more than just viruses, which is why companies now sell Internet Security Suites that do a whole load of things AS WELL AS looking for viruses.

Many people on here say go for AVG Free, or AVAST free and so on, but they are only anti virus products and you are much safer with a full interent security suite.

Now my guess is that Norton is a full Interent Security Suite so I would set that up and use that for its 60 days. REMOVE AVG FIRST.

As you already have already bought Kaspersky I would uninstall Norton after 60 days, and then install Kaspersky. Note the Kaspersky product will only last a year so you need to rebuy it (or something else) next year.

You should certainly only have ONE anti virus product on your PC at a time. If you have more they do indded fight with each other and it can slow your PC down.

As I said in my last reply, look in the Security Centre (Action Centre in Windows 7) and check which security software Windows THINKS you are using.

I went to hep a woman a few years ago who got a free trial (like you) of Norton.

When the trial ran out she then bought another Security product and installed, but never took off Norton.

When I checked the Windows Security Centre it said it was still using Norton (even though it ran out a year ago) and the new software she had bought was not doing anything.

So it is VERY important to remove old security software BEFORE putting on new security software. Also REBOOT after taking off the old software.

AFTER you have removed old security software check in the Security Cente (or Action Centre) that NO security software is installed.

THEN install then new software
