I'll try to help. First, tell me whether you're using a router to link two or more computers to a single connection? If so what model?

Then tell me what firewall you have turned on. Control Panel> Windows Firewall. Or anti anti-virus softeware you've got installed.

Single connection, windows firewall off with macafee security centre and have the sky netgear wireless router but is connected using ethernet cable!
Thanks for your time!
I'm not a computer expert but I've done this twice in the last two weeks with a DSL router and a Orange Livebox router and it's basically a case of forwarding the ports (I'll explain).

Go to Emule Options > Connections and note down the two client port numbers TCP and UDP 17555 etc

You'll then need your static IP address (such as 192.168.1.36) which should be found on your router webpage or configuration page. Usually you log in as 'admin' and the password is usually 'admin' too (when you type this number in the web address bar it automatically goes to your router webpage).

At this point refer to this link which hopefully has your exact Netgear router model instructions. Then click on eMule and follow the instructions. If not look at similar models - it's probably the same process.

http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm

Once you find the advanced router port forwarding options fill in the boxes eg,
Name - eMule1 - TCP start port 11111 - end port 11111 etc
Name - eMule2 - UDP start port 22222 - end port 22222 etc
>Submit and save.

Hopefully the arrows are now green and it's much faster.

To test it go to Emule Options > Connections > Test ports. Should have green ticks instead of red ones.
