You have asked loads of questions about going to Florida, but I seem to remember you are not going till NEXT April (2007). your first ever trip abroad. Is that right?.
You also said you did not like the sun, and you also asked about taking a young child of 2 to Florida, and I said it was not a good idea.
Well a work colleague of mine has just come back from Florida and had two young children with him there. He said it was 85 degrees and was no fun queuing for rides in that heat.
IF you really do not like the heat, and you have a 2 year old child, I would strongly suggest you do NOT go to Florida. Just my opinion
To answer your other question, I do not think you will need insect repellent. I never found them a problem.
Anyway, I think that April is not a bad time to go to Florida, it is certainly cooler than in the summer months and also it is the dry season (there are a lot of thunder storms in the summer) and it's not hurricane season!
The best insect repllent I've come across is Avons skin so soft (soft and fresh). I know it's not advertised as insect repellent, but believe me - it works. I'm usually bitten to death every summer, and that's in the UK, but the last couple of years since using this I've only had 3 bites! I use the shower gel (creamy body wash) and body lotion. If I were you I'd use that then the mozzies won't get you. (I've only been to Florida in the summer but there are certainly mozzies around then even though a lot of places do spray them).
BTW I got the Brits Guide to Orlando which is a great tourist guide with lots of hints and tips for Brits.
We've been a few times & never taken any repellent with us,never been bitten either..we usually go in June.If you need more help you can always join http://www.thedibb.co.uk/ :o)
