Can you recommend any good days out for children I m running out of ideas for the rest of the summer holidays!

A. You have done well to keep them busy this long, but with only two weeks to go until the kids are back at school you could maybe indulge them in a day out at one of the following (depending on where you live of course):

Hampton Court Palace, Surrey

If your children are aged between 8 and 16, get them along to Hampton Court Palace where they are running Fool Schools every weekend throughout the summer where children are taught stilt walking and juggling. The Fool School also puts on a show each day at 3.15pm complete with fire-eating.

National Museum & Art Gallery, Cardiff

This museum is running workshops until 31 August for children of all ages to learn about the world of flight and take part in the Great Paper Plane Challenge. Your kids can also enter a competition to create a flying machine for the future. For more details Tel: 0292 0397 951.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, Lancashire

This is roller coaster heaven, it has more here than anywhere else in the world including the Pepsi Max - the fastest and biggest ride in Europe.

Admission: Different wristbands allow you onto different rides - e.g. unlimited wristbands for all rides cost �25 for the whole day, Beaver Creek children's wristbands �10.95 or you can buy sheets of tickets that start at �10 for a strip up to �24 for white knuckle rides.

3D Active Family, Torquay

More for a weekend than a day out, the 3D Active Family Centre in Torquay offers lots of activities for parents and children to do together. Activities include archery, fencing and even abseiling.

Alton Towers, Staffordshire

Strood Adventure Park, Strood, Kent

Your children can play around with big diggers, dumper trucks and lots of dirt (with non-motorised toys for young children) all day long at the Stood Adventure Park. Unlimited rides are courtesy of a One-Day Wristband, which costs �18.

Chessington World of Adventures, Chessington, Surrey

This is a family oriented and friendly theme park that caters for younger children as well as those that just have to go on scary rides. Toytown and Beanoland are great favourites with the tots. Eden Project, St Austell, Cornwall

A fantastic day out for children can be had at the Eden Project. It is a huge environmental theme park that teaches its visitors about plants and how we depend upon them, conservation and how to enjoy the living world. Stokesay Castle, Ludlow

If you feel your children have too much energy and enjoy a bit of rough and tumble a bit too much take them along to Stokesay Castle and let them channel all that energy into some creative fighting. Daily workshops teaching Shakespearean fight scenes, complete with punches, falls and theatrical rolls will keep your children happy for hours. For more details Tel: 01588 672544.

Legoland, Windsor, Berkshire

It apparently takes seven hours to cover everything at Legoland, which should keep your children out of mischief for a while. The park is home to over 50 interactive rides, building workshops and live shows all packed into its 150 acres of parkland.

Butlins (at Skegness, Minehead and Bognor Regis)

Contrary to popular belief you can visit Butlins just for the day, if you find yourself anywhere near Skegness, Minehead or Bognor this summer. All events are geared towards children, with some of the favourites being visits to Toyland and Rumble in the Jungle themed adventure playgrounds.
