Whilst there is no surety and only guesstimates about the lockdown roadmap and also no real knowledge of what will be in other countries, would you be booking a holiday?

Are holidays that important?

I'm not booking this year. Knowing my luck, it'd get a test done and it'd be positive, all that money down the swanee. Worst still, you get out there, then have to test negative to get back into the UK, but you pick the virus up whilst your away. That's a mare I don't need to think about.

i won't be booking anywhere any time soon. I would only go to my family once everyone in it has been vaccinated. and what about the children there is no guarantee they aren't carriers, some of the family won't get their vaccinations till later in the year, because of their ages, so not sure what one is supposed to think or do.

People will always catch this virus.
There willhave to come a time when catching it doesn't make you an outcast, whether vaccinated or not.

Going abroad doesn't bother me, as I haven't been for years now, but I would like a 'staycation'. I have a friend who has access to a holiday home in North Wales and she's promised me (and my little dog) a break there in the summer all being well. So, fingers crossed !

being "allowed" to leave the country is one thing. not being placed under effective arrest when you arrive because the authorities consider your nationality to be social pariahs, is another......

I would have thought that was unlikely, mushroom - more liely the airline/train/whatever will just refuse to take you.

But we've had the situation where people who were already abroad were unable to return quickly when government minds were changed, though.

Far too optimistic to book now in my opinion. But for those of you who do take the risk then I hope you have good holidays. Another river cruise would be my choice if we go abroad again or back to Norway via Tilbury docks. Until my health deteriorated we had lots of overseas holidays to some great places. But I never got to go to India which I really wanted to do.
No best answer because there is no best answer. We all want different things.

a holiday to me would be simple, being able to just going out for a nice meal and drink with my oh, i live in a rural area already with a beach 10 minutes up the road if i so wish, but i understand if you live in a city or built up area and want some country side and fresh air, sweaty spain and crowded beaches with screaming kids.. whatever floats your boat.

I like holidays but they're not the be all and end all of my life. I'll manager perfectly well without them. I have one holiday transferred from last year to this year - but I can't see it happening. I wouldn't even consider booking holidays until this is all over.
