Will the schools be closed?
The reason I'm asking is because, if it's held on Sept 19th, I think that's the day that exams are being taken in some parts of the country.
I'm pretty sure that's the day my granddaughter is due to take her 11plus.

I doubt our Carpenter will be coming around to fit our internal doors, in that case, and I don't suppose the kiddo will be going to school.

I bet I'll still be made to go into work though...

I don't know if the shops will be closed, but they might open for less hours than usual.
I expect we'll find out sooner or later.

Well, that answers my original question, so I expect the schools will be informed about new arrangements for exams when they go back on Monday.
The only counties (as a whole) where grammar schools (and hence the 11+ exam) still exist are Kent, Lincolnshire and Buckinghamshire. There are just a handful of smaller areas (including Trafford, where I assume that your granddaughter must live) and some isolated individual schools (or small groups of schools) across the country. Most other areas abolished grammar schools about half a century ago:

As the examinations are administered locally, rather than nationally (as with GCSE exams, etc), there should be no problem with moving the date.
