For about 3 days now I've had a pain in my back.
It's on the right hand side about waist level and above.
I've tried the usual Ibuprofen and heat pad, but it doesn't seem to get any better.
It seems worse when I take a deep breath in.
Any idea what it could be ? TIA

In the abscence of any other symptoms that you have brought to our notice, then it would seem that it is muscular (strain). Continue on the regime that you have instituted for another week.

Sqad, I do have R & O arthritis and I told my specialist nurse the pain from my right knee is shooting up the back of my leg to my buttocks.
Having asked me questions about it, she thinks it's more likely to be sciatica that is shooting from my buttock down to my knee.
As I don't know anything about sciatica, I didn't know whether that is what I have in my back?
Souds like sciatica in your leg, but not a similar problem in your back.

Is it possible to have a muscle strain and not know how you've done it as in perhaps turning over in bed?
I do have difficulty doing this, and I know it can't be picking anything heavy up or bending down simply because I can't do those things.
Quite possible.
