Google Translate -- How Do I Change The Options?

I use Google Translate quite a lot, almost always into or from Italian and Spanish. But on the left-hand side, the options are for Detect language, English, French and Spanish, and on the right-hand side: English, Spanish and Arabic. I don't think that I have ever used Arabic in either direction. How can I change the languages I am offered?

Do a google search and type in "english to italian translation" and you'll be taken to the appropriate page.

Have you not tried DeepL ??

I've been learning Spanish for approx 4 1/2 years and have founf DeepL to be a lot better.

You click on the language tab and there should be a drop-down offering any language you like.

Just to the right of the English Spanish and Araqbic there is a down-pointing arrowhead. Click it.

I just use it. Type in what is " how are you " in Arabic and

the english is on the left and arabic script on the right.

There are a series of arrows and carets you can play around with to choose or togge languages

I know about the down arrow, and I am able to use it, but it's a nuisance having to go to a page of about 100 languages every time and I have to find 'Italian' and click on it. Why am I being offered Arabic, which I have never used, and probably will never use. Why can't I change it for Italian? I thought Spanish was offered because I translate into Spanish very often, so I thought Italian would eventually be offered, but not so far. On the left-hand side, if I enter something in Italian it will detect Italian without being asked, so no problem there.

Type in "english to italian translation" -- too much trouble! If it was once it would be OK, but many times, it's a pain. I have "Google Translate" on my toolbar (if that's the right word) -- the set of frequently used Google searches. I will have copied what I want to translate, so I don't want to lose that. Surely somebody knows how to change the three languages offered on Google Translate.

Why not simply bookmark your most frequently used language pairings?

e.g. if you need to translate from English to Italian frequently, bookmark this page:
https://translate.google.co.uk/?sl=en&;tl=it&op=translate

If you want to be able to get to that page in one click, add a shortcut to it onto your toolbar by dragging the padlock symbol there.  It'll initially be labelled 'Google translate' but you can change that to (say) 'Italian' by right-clicking on it and selecting 'Edit'.

After you've typed "English to Italian translation", you'll be at the page where you need to be.  Simply add this page to your bookmarks and then, depending on where exactly it's stored in your bookm arks, you'll only be 1 or 2 clicks away from accessing it  :)

Just out of curiosity, have you tried DeepL??

I used to use Google translate, but found it inaccurate at times and it only ever offers one translation.  DeepL offers other alternative translations and is much more accurate when translating longer sentences.
