There is apparently an app which can be added to a smartphone to identify which bird is singing.

I don't have a smartphone (gave it away). Would it possible to add it to a laptop using a mike in some way ?

T read that there are binoculars available that, when focused upon a bird, will identify it for you.  That doesn't answer your question but I thought I'd mention it.

The app for the smartphone is called Merlin. It's great.

Have a look at the website to see if there is a non phobe option maybe

There's also Birdnet

I suspect your unobtained mobile may run Android or Apple iOS. Your laptop is likely to be Windows.

You may need to search for a Windows alternative.

I just had a quick look and Merlin will not work with Windows on a laptop.  Shame because it really is excellent.

The binoculars sound cool, but it's so wooded where I live & along by the river I walk, that I can hear them, but can't see them, that's the problem.
