Whilst this is a light hearted story to some degree it is rather irresponsible of the dogs owner to allow such an animal to become morbidly obese to the extent it can not climb some steps.

My parents have St Bernard's and although weighing more than me, they could swim the Channel, and run the London Marathon in the same day.

Makes me sick, I tell ye. Makes me sick.

Yes they should.. its a form of cruelty...

And so should people who let their kids get porky too... no excuse...
get stuffed, i mean you not your pet.
Some people can't even feed their kids appropriately let alone pets!
Yes, as should parents who do the same to their children.
my dog never goes hungry , i do , but not the dog
my hamsters fat please don't tell me off lol
yes i think it's very irresponsible to allow dogs cats etc to get fat but i thinks it's worse to see obese children i don't been puppy fat i mean fat fat
Fatness in pets is a form of malnutrition, and if they were that much UNDER weight the owners would be prosecuted. Instead some companies promote competitions for pet 'slimmer of the year' and the owners can win money and prizes. Obscene.
We have had this discussion over on A & N a few times, and I am firmly with lankeela on this-would you reward a parent for overfeeding their child? Either way, a parent or a pet owner, you are responsible for a living thing's wellbeing.

Yes, yes they should.
