And if so, why?
One of my friends is just about to open one (lease signed, shop fitted etc.) and whilst her basic philosophy is fresh, made to order sandwiches with nice bread, crisp salad etc. she is keen (obviously!) to keep abreast with all things sandwichy! So when you go and buy a sandwich what do you look for? A particular filling (what's your fave?) or a type of bread/roll or extras such as soup, cakes, flapjacks etc. Any thoughts welcome!

Jenna - think the meal deal thing is a good idea, and as far as the 'extras' go, she already has two shops (one newsagents and one grocery type store) and as far as I know she is planning on having a wide selection (her shops at the mo are the only place where I can get Brannigan's crisps and Roast Beef Monster Munch!)

And Juggerling - eugh! - I'm not veggie and the thought of a perfectly good cheese sandwich being tainted by a tuna ridden knife (and I like tuna - just not with cheese!) has made my stomach heave!

I know these are not sandwich fillings, but I don't always want a sarnie at lunchtime - I often prefer to go to a little Italian caf that sells takeaway salads and one can choose from a selection of stuff like:-

lettuce, cucumber, tomato, cheddar cheese, cottage cheese, potato salad, rice salad, pasta salad, beetroot, bean salad, beetroot, pineapple, nuts, grated carrot, etc etc - all in different size containers depending on one's hunger level ! Very healthy food and freshly made every day. I keep trying to persuade them to do fresh fruit salads as well !!
Hi,

With regards to extras, I will always go back to a shop where I can get a decent coffee as well as my sandwich. There is usually at least one or two sandwiches on the menu that I would buy but if you then only get horrible coffee to go with it and have to go somewhere else to get a drink you like you are more likely to get your sandwich where you are going to get your coffee as well.

A good selection of home-made cakes will always have me returning to a shop also.
