I am thinking of buying an electric blanket for my brother who owns a double bed. Anybody tell me that nowadays they are very safe and washable. If they are will I buy him a double or single as I feel a single should do if he lies on the one place (he is not married)
You must buy a blanket to suit the size of the bed, that way the cords to tie it tightly to the mattress will be the right length. Electric blankets need to be securely fixed with no folds or creases.
Never had any trouble with them. We have Dreamland, king size, dual controls .... fantastic. On our third. Slight problem with one of the controls couple of months ago so bought a new one, thinking other one was kaput, although slightly less than year old. However, phoned manufacturers and in spite of not having receipt they agreed item be sent to them for servicing so now have a spare. hth
funnygirl, maybe you did because quite honestly we have found the leccy blanket a boon. The bedroom is the coldest room in our abode and this item was a boon. I was wary of them initially but have had no problems .... touch wood or whatever !!! hth
There is a difference between over and under blankets, the latter were the cause of many fires I thought they had been banned. The over blankets are on top of the bed and as such you are not lying on top of them. Another point at one time they were fed directly from the mains but I believe nowadays they are fed through a low voltage transformer.
