My husband and I are trying for a baby. I have read leaflets and books and can't seen to get the grasp of when is the best time to conceive, making sure we hit the ovulation times. Is there anyone out there than can suggest an easier way.

I had considered buying the ovulation test kits but thought I would seek someones help first before spending money,

Thanks

Well if you want a cheap way of doing it buy a good thermometer. Take your temperature every morning as soon as you get up before a drink or anything. Write down the temperature. You will find that it is more or less the same for a couple of weeks and then it will dip down a little and then go up slightly. As soon as it dips down then lots of action for the next few days !!!!!!! It might sound crude but try to stay lying down for a little while afterwards too ....
Good luck !!
hi there,

I was always told that as a rough guide it is 12-16 days from the first day of your last period.
It may have been on here that i also read about the way of telling by your discharge. When vaginal discharge is sticky then its is best time.
If you have a regular 28 day cycle then you are fertile roughly from day 12 to 16, but as sperm can live for up to 3 days you could get pregnant from day 9.

The kits are a bit pricey so it helps if you have a rough idea of when you are likely to ovulate (ie, by doing the temperature thing each morning). They are fairly similar to pregnancy tests in that you have to wee on them and you get a little blue line if you are going to ovulate in the next few hours. I used them when I concieved my baby and it worked first time so I would definately say it's worth doing, especially if it's taking a while. Hope it works out for you.
Try www.babycentre.co.uk they have an ovulation predictor, you just type in the date you start your period and the length of your cycle and it works out the best days for you to concieve. Me & my husband are also trying and I find this website gives lots of advice.

good Luck
