If he wins his case it will it create a precedence for all such warning signs and parking tickets to be in a multitude of languages.

anotheoldgit, English is the language of England. In the three other countries of the UK, English is a language spoken by the majority but it is a foreign language still.

When you have the Welsh language thrown down your throats such as ARAF when you drive there its about time they grew up and accept the English language. The amount of extra paint is just wasteful. I wonder how much fuss they create in the EU which has over 17 languages already and wonder if they are also on that list.

I take offence to your assumption, just because it has took an obvious course now, I did not personally think that way, when I first posted the thread.

Well the same could be said regarding the different languages spoken in England.

Take hugely Asian communities in cities such as Leicester, should they also expect signs and documents issued in the language that the majority of locals speak?

Councils such as Leicester do provide some information in languages other than English. If you want people to pay Council Tax or you want to get information off them from a form, then you need to do that in a language they can understand - and that isn't always English. When you are trying to get money off people, it is always better to make the paying process as easy as possible.

I didn't see this earlier, I can't believe the hypocrasy of some.. when people come to our country they should speak our language, but when we go to other people's countries they should speak our language! Arrogant idiots!
