Not surprising when you place someone with a falsified CV as Chancellor of the United Kingdom. She (Reeves) who claimed to have been an 'economist' when all she had done was have a lowly job with the Halifax Bank.
Of course you could also move along the Front Bench & take a look at the backgrounds of the likes of Rayner, Lammy, etc.
OMG!
Start enforcing the policies already in place.
Get rid of useless, wasteful and vanity projects.
Stop sending billions in aid to countries with a better space programme than we have and other countries that we know filth the money away to their own pockets. Or aid for countries that treat their own people as fodder but the wealthy and influential live it up.
Let every nation and country live within their means and lot on the never never.
The problem with allthat though is that the people who benefit will not let go of the tweet of the UK taxpayer lightly.
It's strange.
In its 2024 manifesto, Labour devoted fifteen pages and about 5,000 words under the section "Kickstart Economic Growth". They gave the clear impression that tthey knew precisely where the Conservative government had been going wrong and even more precisely what was needed to put it right.
Now they have moved from Opposition to Government it seems they don't have all (if indeed they have any) of the answers. They have turned for help to the people whose main task is to do precisely the opposite of promoting growth - the regulators. Their main task is to regulate their respective industries, and in doing so restricting their activities and binding them with Red Tape.
Funny old world.
Surely that was the Lettuce Lady !
It certainly was not. The budget proposed by Ms russ and her Chancellor was never given a chance to see h eligh of day. The threat of it caused a depression in the markets but these were soon reversed when Ms russ was unceremoniously thrown out of office.
The depression in the markets, business and consumer confidence since October has been profound and shows no sign of reversal.
Why are the Starmtroopers asking unelected quangos what to do? These creepy so called regulatory bodies have even less of a mandate to steer our economy than the lousy cabinet does.
There is enough mission creep and and authority over reach from them as it is without this dissolute ramble of a Goverment encouraging more. If ever you needed proof that they don't know what they're doing then it is right there in the desperate plea for help from a bunch of parasitic chancers and journeymen.
It certainly was not. The budget proposed by Ms Truss and her Chancellor was never given a chance to see the light of day.
There was one budget dribbled out with leaks
because it looked too much like Truss'. and looked what happened to her !
I commented that there may be a set of (eek) circumstances where there is only one way out.... the resta AB coughed and blaaarted of course

the baby went out in the bath water in Camerons Bonfire of the Quangos. The triennial maternal mortality went out and was not replaced and that allowed 18 mothers to die at one hospital without er anyone noticing
I think you can elect them - MPs then the ctee is stuffed according to the number of seats in the commons - non fed judges are elected in the Land of the Free and are NOT notably better than our high court wiggies
or elect direct - Manchester good, Boris and London bad.
The GMC is directly appointed and is hugely expensive paid for by doctors' subs and is generally approved of
The IOPC ( police body) are just looked on as a crowd of winkers, which doesnt do anything
One size doesnt fit all I suppose
Note - this is intended as a serious comment with examples you didn expect - not modder fodder where one mod ( ah bless) screams un-mimsy and four press the zap button
