About 22 yrs ago Bill's mum gave me a very tiny cup and saucer, it is bone china with hand pained gold leafs on both items, not so strange?
but when you lift the cup to the light, at the bottom is a delicate picture of a Japanese Geisha in black and white which can't be seen when the pair are laid ordinary...
any ideas about this?

Has it got any wording/symbols on the bottom with the picture, which you could look up?
It's hard to know with some these things, I have odd sets of cups and saucers which my grandma collected and I would love to know more about them.

Spent a lot of time in Japan when I was in Merch and bought 2 or 3 Tea Sets similar to the type you mention.
The Japanese sellers used to turn Cup upside down on floor and stand on it to demonstrate how strong the China was even though it looked so fragile.
They are very colourful but not very practical for everyday use as they look best in a display Cabinet.

no box just the shadow of a geisha and a gold leaf and what could be a snake or lizard wrapped around it
Question Author
I will photograph it later and put it on here for you to have a look if thats ok?
wow that's lovely, redman!
They do look nice boxtops although this particular pic does not do the Tea sets justice as they are very colourful on outside of cup and saucer.
Bobbi - type this into Google

geisha appears in cup in light
