I Am Legend ... continuing irritation
4 Answers
Okay. This whole "defrosting" issue is irritating me.
This is from Chapter 11 ...
"He got a steak from the freezer, and while it was broiling he took a fast shower"
And then, a bit later ...
"The steak he finished to the bone, and he even chewed on that."
So, it was a steak on the bone.
HOW IS ROBERT NEVILLE DEFROSTING THIS FOOD?
The book is set in 1975, so it's not as though there is some futuristic defrosting device, and, although the Raytheon Radarange domestic microwave oven was launched in 1967, so microwaves were actually around in 1975, there is no mention of any microwaving.

Not like pork or chicken that you need to defrost first. Beef is terribly forgiving. (Have been known to wash a bit of beef that is past its best in vinegar and cook it and eat it!!!!)
