Hi
Can anyone give me a bit of advice. I am 51 and had my last regular period back in October. I was told by the Dr that I was Perimenopausal. I started to get hot flushes quite badly during the day & even worse at night, plus having insomnia. Taking Sage leaf capsules was suggested to me to help stop the sweats. They where brilliant and within a week I had stopped having the sweats.
Anyway two weeks ago I started a period again. It stopped after a week for about three days and has now started again with a vengance. I stopped taking the Sage leaf as soon as my period started.
Is it normal to go nearly 6 months without a period to the start again?
Everyone's different, feebee - some people just stop, others go on and off for a couple of years.
Have you thought about HRT? - not that it suits everyone, but I had HRT patches and they stopped all the sweats and side effects - I wore them for several years until I didn't need them any more.
Yes it's normal to stop and start. Menopause is usually described as complete when you have gone 12 months without a period. BUT if you are at all nature then go talk to the doc.
feebee would be interested to know how you get on, I'm almost your age, periods had been coming twice a month for ages, but now haven't had one for about 3 months, and feeling hot at night, crap isn't it?
Thanks for everyones answers, it's nice to know that there are others out there going through the same. I feel fantastic in myself just p****d off that everything has started again. I was hoping that it was all finished once and for all. Oh well onwards and upwards !
