If you have had BOTH vaccinations and can afford the documentation and going to a green colour country and would collapse into a jabbering mass if you missed out.........then go.
If you don't comply with the above then stay in the UK.

The country I REALLY want to get to is still on red list (south Africa where most of my family live)

Can’t see that happening this year even ....
Btw I know we’re “allowed” to visit red list countries but the quarantine in a U.K. “covid hotel” afterwards at £1750 is a bit too steep gor me!

And then of course there’s the fact of do I want to put another’s health at risk,,,. Imagine o got covid on the plane trip n passed it along to elderly parents
Sqad, I did say comply with all the advice and stuff, just like you did.

Jim.....about time I attracted international attention.
bobbie.....lol.
//NJ , If you wait for clear solid instructions from this government regarding going on holiday, you'll be waiting until Xmas eve and beyond. There are places you can go, if you really want to.//

As I said, tc, I take little notice of government advice. I simply comply with the law so I’m not usually too concerned whether their advice is clear or not. But in this case, as I have explained, it matters.

I find it odd that you say “there are places you can go if you really want to.” I don’t want to go abroad simply for the sake of going abroad. I want to go to the places of my choice (in particular the place I have had booked for sixteen months) so the current shambles is of no use at all to me or many others. Unsurprisingly, Iceland, Israel, the Falklands (which I visited before they became well known) and the South Sandwich Islands are not on my bucket list.

//Oh! yes it is.......it becomes my business if they pass the virus on to me, vaccinated or unvaccinated.//

Do you expect this unmitigated compliance from everybody around you to last indefinitely, sqad?
Question Author
No NJ.......not indefinitely but certainly at this very moment in time with a new virus floating around of which we know spreads exponentially every 2 -3weeks.
Knowing the British public compliance is a state of obedience in which I have little faith.
Allow an old man a prophecy..........there will be another spike in the beginning of September necessitating another lockdown.
I hope it is the prophecy of an ageing demented has been.
Demented? Don't be so hard on yourself, Sqad.

Fermented would be another matter ;)

Choux....lol...oddly enough I only drink wine with dinner in the evening .
I can't see my trip to Copenhagen going ahead in July but I'm going to St Ives the first week in July and we've got Tenerife booked for mid-November with Kos postponed until May next year.

I've got to the stage where if it happens, it happens, and if it doesn't... fine! I'm sure I can find other ways to spend my money.
I've got a holiday booked later on in the summer in lovely Wales and I'm happy with that. Wouldn't mind a long weekend in the Lakes though at some point.
Sqad //Choux....lol...oddly enough I only drink wine with dinner in the evening // .... and gin with your breakfast? :)
