alarm clock energy consumption

We are doing eveything to reduce our electricity consumption,replacing bulbs not leaving things on standby etc. But today I got to wondering how much electricity my radio alarm clock uses, does anyone know and will it be worth switching to an old fashioned big ben?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Not sure how much a modern clock radio uses, but did see the rating on a quite old one which was a massive 5 watts. Not sure if this was with the radio on full blast, but seems a lot for just a LED. This would mean it would use 43.68 kilowatt hours in one year, so suppose it would be better to use a wind-up clock.
