There are various physical (like a few deep breaths or star jumps) and chemical (herbals, caffeine, etc) ways to trigger a boost to your body - but it will be of limited use if you don't have the reserves in the first place (like revving on empty!)
Make sure you get enough iron in your diet to supply oxygen effectively to brain and muscles along with the vit-C needed to process it.
Also enough carbs (grains and fruits not processed sugars) along with a good B-vitamin supplement to process the energy from the carbs.
