I have two sisters and they are both adorable... and I have two adorable brothers too - even one of them has forgotten I have children and didn't send any Christmas presents - never mind ;-)

my mam has 3 sisters and i think they take it in turns to hate each other. you can gaurentee that at any given time 3 of them will not be talking to one of them. so happy im an only child, this could of been my mothers thinking haha

I have read about some sibling rivalry on here that would make your hair curl.

Seen it in reality too and its quite uncomfortable to see or be in the company of folk who dont get on with their sister or brother.

knew that was going to come up - yes I do but sometimes she can be hard work - 8 years older than me and recently has lost a son and I think I am too soft with her because of this

No, my sister is an absolute selfish bitch. All she cares about is herself, her dodgy third world husband and her 2 useless sons.

They all take advantage of my elderly mother and use her as a cashpoint machine. The latest misdemeanour was that she took my mother's bank book and withdrew over �600 without my mum's knowledge, I guess so she could buy her useless family Christmas presents. Truely scum!

My sister is my best friend! We have a mutual love and admiration for each other . I call her my "earth angel" because she is such a wonderful person, not only to me but to anyone she encounters.

I have one sister who is older and I love her to bits. Just wish I lived a bit closer to her so I could see her more often.

My sister is my very best friend though we are very different. Noone makes me laugh like she does. As kids we hated each other and fought constantly!

Maybe we are all products of our environment and my sister is the way she is because my mother had her out of wedlock, in the early 60's, when this sort of thing was taboo. She was then fostered for a couple of years and has never really had the bond with my mother, the way I have.

I suppose because of this, she feels resentful towards my mother and is envious of me, as my life is completely the opposite of hers. Perhaps I ought to be more understanding, even though I know we will never be close or even friends.

My youngest has been through so much,has 3 children lost her hubby when there little girl was not even 2 years old,had to put up with running my alcholic older sisters financial and emotional issues,she never looked for anyone else,my niece is now 10 and nephews are 13 and 20, the eldest nephew has gone thru university,graduates this year,has a good job with the p.c.t and deals with the prison service,yep she can be bolshy and nippy sometimes,but if i could only be just a tad like her i would be happy!!!

Velvetee....My heart goes out to you and your sister. I wish you could have more of a pleasant relationship. Perhaps you could try to be a little more understanding....why don't you do a little experiment and see what the results might be? It may take a little while so don't give up right away if it doesn't produce a slightly better relationship. Maybe she needs you to just reach out to her. I'd be curious as to how she may react to you.
