Bless you, you're probably fed up chick! Well a sweep works quite well with a lot of people so you might get things moving! I would get plenty of rest now in prep for all the huffing and the puffing! Tee Hee!

Very exciting!

I had a sweep about 4 hours before my baby was born but, I was already in the early stages of labour. The midwife who was attending my homebirth did it because I wasnt dialating and was stuck at 2cm.

Unpleasant experience is definately putting it mildly lol

lol Im's so glad u said that psy, I thought maybe I was just being a bit of a wimp!!
Hey K8! Cant ebelive you're still waiting.

If its any comfort i was induced after two weeks, (had the sweep a day before i was due to be induced) and found it horrible... very uncomfortable after i was told it didnt hurt etc!!!

Hope you're not left waiting much longer! x
how did the sweep do k8? any change?

I had a sweep with first and it didnt hurt at all, but it dodnt do anything.

with second it was very very sore and i bled and had a lot of show from then for 2 days and on the 3rd day it stopped for a few hours before i went into labour.

I hope its worked for you x

well i think it was a combination of the sweep, washing my car and sex but i think I'm finally in labour, lots of brown discharge (sorry!) since last night and very painful contractions since about 8 this morning, still a bit irregular tho which is good coz the father to be is pretty much refusing to come home early in case I'm horrible to him!!?? I feel awfull really shakey and sick :-( begining to wish the baby would stay put!!
Ooooo fingers crossed for you!!!
hun, are you on your own? does sound as if you are in early stages and its best if you can try and relax and take it easy for a bit until they get a pattern or become too uncomfortable

You could ask your midwife to call in and see you maybe she can give you some advice.

Try having a warm bath, this eases the pain but can speed things up a bit. How irregular are they?

oooh im so excited for you! try not to get worried, your body knows what its doing.
if it helps, heres a simple contraction timer.

you press the space bar on PC when contraction starts and again when it stops. It will give all the details the of length and frequency so you can see a bit easier if there is a pattern. Of course it helps if your fella is there to press the buttons whilst you do the important bit.

yeah I'm on my own, they're sometimes 9mins sometimes 4. think I'll call the MW now see what she says.

I'm terrible with pain!
you can take paracetomol but hospital and midwife wont give anything stronger until you are in established labour.

If they hurt then try relaxing your shoulders, and breathing in throught your nose and out through your mouth. It does help (thats all i did in my labours and Im a such a wimp i wont have injections lol) and its a distraction. The bath also helps your muscles relax and can ease the pain that way too.

Have you got a TENS machine? if you have, and dont want a bath, then try and get that on instead though i realise itd be better if your fella was there to help.

Is there anyone who can keep you company? the pain is worse when theres no-one to talk to or distract you in any way.

I just called him again during a contraction so he'd know i wasnt faking so now he's on his way back. I couldn't have a tens coz I've got a dodgy ticker but i think i'll go and try that bath!!
if you are in that much pain then dont get in bath til he gets home. oh and call the midwife, not all first babies take a long time to arrive!
How exciting! I guess you don't need my inpout about the sweep, but here goes anyway.... I had a sweep on the Thurs morning and my waters broke early hours Saturday morning, then had another sweep Saturday lunchtime and baby was born Sunday lunchtime.

Sounds like yours in progressing wel, good luck sweetie - I#m sending some cyber pushes your way :-) xxx
Wonder if baby k8bailey has arrived yet? It's so exciting! x
red have you ever thought of becoming a midwife? Seriously, you would be great at it!

Im guessing no more posts means thigs carried on progressing, hopefully things arent taking to long for her and baby has arrived! :)
This is the worst bit isn't it? I always sit here like an anxious father in the waiting room.... just waiting for news! Honestly I do have a bit of a life in the "real" world..... :-)
lol natalie, still, Id rather be sat here waiting for news than on the other end of it going through the labour myself!
psy, can you really see me, scared of needles and pain, being a midwife lol

k8, i hope that by now the painful bit is over and done with and that you are resting with your new baby hun. Make the most of any help offered and get lots of rest if you can.
Still no news? :( x
