Belgians make the best chips

A friend of mine was supposed to put her son on a diet. She said he didn't have to eat potatoes so she was giving him chips instead. Believe it or not as you wish, but I tell you this is true!!

craft - I would dispute that - even though les moules et frites are very popular, I would opt for a Waterzooi or a Carbonade Flamande (with frites) (lived there!)

On my frequent visit to Paris I always have 'pomme frittes', so guess the french will claim to have invented them like most things are european cousins lay claim to (or not).

I've spent many a happy evening in a Belgian restaurant in London...............moules, frites, and belgian beer........never remember getting back to the hotel.

I'll tell you who does the best chips - the cafe at Rivendell, a garden centre near where I live. Big, fat and crispy on the outside - they are (as the saying goes) to die for !!

Agree with Belgian area, having Moules Marinier, Frites & Hoegarden beer, staying in small hotel in Bruges with OH - excellent long weekend. Recommended!!
