For years I've been video-calling my son on Skype, but today, for the last 12 hours, I've been getting the message 'Skype home unavailable. Try again later.' My son says I'm showing as offline when he tries to contact me, but my internet connection is fine.
Any ideas anyone?

Have you tried logging out of Skype, closing it and logging in again?

Does your Skype show you as signed in?

Yes, hc4361, I've logged out and in again but still get the Skype Home unavailable message. I'm using Windows 7, by the way.

I had this message yesterday or something like it, but after upfgrading the service worked well as usual.

Uninstall Skype using a program like Revo Uninstaller and download and run the correct version for your OS this should fix your issue.
