I have just come across a bag of Charlotte seed potatoes in a dark cupboard under the stairs which I bought several weeks ago. I meant to chit them before planting but now being in the dark for so long they have grown enormous shoots some 8" or more long! Is there anything I can do with them (other than throwing them in the bin?) I wondered if they would grow if I plant them now just as they are, or rub off the white shoots then plant? Advice welcome please folks? Ta muchly :)
I have planted potatoes with these long shoots before, and they were fine. I just made sure to cover them after laying the shoots out sideways if that makes sense.
