does anyone know where I can buy maple sugar, cream and butter from a uk mail order company? I know I can get it straight from Canada and the US but the p and p and customs make this very expensive.

no, no trauma at all, woofgang, no obvious cause. Except for the wicked witch at my baptism, but surely her evil spell would have struck earlier?

Three huge thunderstorms in three hours here. And we're not even meant to be in the danger zone, but the weather must have changed course to target me.
Same here .It's sloshed it down all day.Really fed up with it now.
High tides too along the coast but no drastic flooding.
Glad to see Mr N is on the mend Neti and that you can take your nurses hat off.
Funnily enough I snapped a nail this morning and that's guaranteed to piddle me off after I had manicured and varnished them.I haven't got any dents but some ridges which I think everyone gets as you get older .I've got some Kaeso cream which is brilliant for hands and nails and has smoothed out some of the ridges. You have to be a dedicated nail fusser and filer though and keep putting it on religiously and I'm that dedicated person :)
Mr N is almost better now so I popped to village for a coffee and got messages that someone was looking us. Then our old mate from early 70s came round the corner. Had a great catch up. He won the lottery last year.
Poor Mr N missed all the fun!
Mr N has gone back to work today and this pm I have to go hospital but no idea where, who or why? As Mr N took the call and didnt ask!
My bro who fell under his lawn mover is being released from hospital tomorrow after 3 weeks.
that's a relief, neti. Tell him to get a proper gardener in.

I now have three temporary crowns and a couple of gaps, which in another month will be replaced by one proper crown and a bridge across three, plus an implant. So I will actually be getting my two front teeth for Christmas!
Morning all. Jno he has a couple of gardeners as he owns a few acres, but he does like to potter!! That's men for you!!
Well I went to rehab, what a mess! Apparently I do not have tendonitis at all! No one has seen the MRI yet as its with the consultant and I am on waiting list to see him. The rehab was unnecessary and an.ooerstion is in order but ai do not think I'll have it as I can cope and the last shoulder op 12 years ago took a year to recover from with 6 months rehab so absolutely no way am I going down that route again at my age!!
Still extremely hit and sweaty. Nose could run for UK in the Olympics!
Hello all
It's not raining and the sun is out.Hooray.How long it will last is to be left.I bet your brother will be glad to get home Neti.Tell him to take it easy but they never do.My bro made himself a new bird feeding station some time ago and concreted it into the lawn.He decided he didn't like where it was situated so dug it up with concrete still attached and lugged it somewhere else and has now put his back out . I told him not to do it and to wait for his grandson or Picky to do it for him.Stubborn old b..!
Progress with your teeth sounds good Jno and hopefully you'll be able to eat your Christmas dinner in peace .I had a letter today for the bosom flattening dept next Friday .I thought I didn't have to go any more but apparently not although I might have asked them to notify me being as I'm over 70 but I can't remember if I did or not.

an.ooerstion is in order

oo er, matron!
Hahaha jno I wondered what you were on about? An operation I meant. Also I wont have the flu jab
I've been lucky so far so hope my luck continues.
They stop mammograms here at age 69 same as colon tests. I.pay €50 for a private mammogram that's cos I'm over 64
If I was younger it would be €300!!!
Hi all
Not a happy bunny. The boiler has conked out completely. No hot water and it's chilly here. They're coming tomorrow to have a look at it. I've always sung the praises of British Gas home care but they've made a ricket this time .When we had it serviced last week I think he was more interested in selling us a new boiler than fixing this one.He was supposed to have ordered a part but it must be coming from Timbuktu as we've neither seen or heard anything since. Picky is coming over first thing tomorrow to oversee it all.
"Don't worry Mother ,I'll sort them out "
I shall hide :)
better get it sorted now rather than in the middle of the blizzards, shaney.
Well here I be ,up and sort of washed with the aid of a couple of kettles of hot water as they could turn up from 8am.
I'm annoyed because it was chugging along perfectly until the engineer started waving a screwdriver around and the pressure dropped. It may sound cynical but I'm beginning to wonder if he loused it up on purpose so that we would consider buying a new one.
Yes Jno, I saw some headlines saying it could be a bitterly cold winter.I think it was the Express, who do tend to get hysterical about these things but it makes a change from their usual front page which is mostly banging on about Diana or a cure for arthritis.Picky is on his way so I'd better shift and and check the bacon sandwich supplies:)

Oh I'd love a really old winter, I really would!
Shaney for years here that is how we washed, and rinsing long hair under a cold brass tap in the kitchen, but I'd moan if I had to do it now. MR N sorts out all our boiler, cooked at am problems thank goodness.
Hija is arriving on Wednesday for a 10 day stay, we'll never last! Now I will have to get all my suitcases of clothes and hanging clothes out of her wardrobe, damn,
Oh deep joy. Downton Abbey the film is coming here next week for 2 days! Trouble is all the island will descend on us to see it and it's a very small cinema so Ill have to get there a few hours early with some sandwiches. Its only down the road from me.
And before our jno picks me up on it I mean I'd really love a COLD winter!!!!
shaney, I put a link on another thread to an article in the Mail a month ago predicting a bitter winter - I don't know why other papers took so long to pick it up, but it did also predict an Indian summer in September, whch we got. So the story's been correct so far. But they do say It All Depends.
Jno,if another beast from the east arrives I have hot water and heating.Hooray.
Nice man arrived shortly after 8am who got on and fixed it and had the part required unlike that other bull merchant. He was aghast when I told him that all the other engineer did was say the parts for this boiler are becoming obsolete and hard to get hold of,told me to monitor the pressure for a fortnight, fiddled about and was more interested in flogging us a new one.
It was reassuring to have Picky here though as he won't take any *** off anyone.I was going to get some quotes for a new one but he said not to as there are millions of parts for these boilers out there and he should know.
Yes, Neti I grew up like that.Outside lav,no bathroom ,one cold tap and washstands in the bedrooms.I was 18 before I had a bath where hot water came out of actual taps and had never seen central heating until I went to live in Germany.
I can't cope without home comforts these days.I nearly have a nervous breakdown if the washer makes a funny noise ..haha.
Night all.
oh, that's good news, shaney. I've only had central heating since we moved here from our showbox in the middle of the M1.
