murdered children

A burial register of August 1600 shows that two children in my family tree were murdered and buried on the same day. Is there any way of finding more details about this?

Yes there will have been A POST MORTEM INQUEST held by a localk Justice of the Peace and then possibly a case brought before the Quarter Sessions and then the Assizes. There should be a record of any whitness statements and any summuns to court of those whitnesses.

What area of the Country was this? Quarter Sessions were Held in different town or that came under a Hundred over the year and all records should be at the County Record Office

Quarter session inxeses exist for many counties and these can quickley identify individual documents, The systen itself is huge and therefore can seem daunting but it is really quite well preserved.
