How much notice to give?
6 Answers
My son is currently employed with a local hotel but has no fixed hours and to be honest the whole set-up is quite odd. When he does have hours he is paid sometimes weekly and sometimes monthly depending how much cash the owner has available!
He has the possibility of another job but how much notice would he have to give?
I assume 1 week but any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

In the absence of such a document, then the stantard is that his notice period is the same as his pay period...
His pay situation is also very odd. He should be paid weekly OR monthly - as defined in the document above - and is legally entitled to recieve payslips showing pay and deductions. He should check with the tax office that he has had tax properly deducted. If not, he is building up problems for his future if he doesn't sort it now; and his employer is deep in the mire. Is he properly paid for holidays?

Thanks guys. He has never received a payslip and sometimes is paid in cash and sometime direct into his bank account. He has also never been given a written contract. As I say a very odd and situation and one that ,if he is successful, I intend to bring to the attention of the appropraite authorities.
