lpg or oil??

hi, at the mo, i'm trying to decide whether to go for lpg or oil. i recently removed our old old central heating oil boiler and want to go for a combi boiler, i still have a metal oil tank but i'm not sure how long it may last. unfortunately i'm not on mains gas because there is non in the village so lpg and oil are the better option than electric everything. a few people have said that lpg is a lot more expensive than oil ,but oil boilers on the other hand seem to be a lot more expensive than gas ones, eg oil boiloer would cost approx �2000 not including installation because i need at least 16 lpm DHW flow . any suggestions?????

Never ever put in LPG, it is unbelievably expensive to run, although no form of heating is cheap, that is by far the most expensive, an oil fired boiler will last for many years so I would go for that everytime, Could you put woodburner in with a backboiler to at least supply heating to part of the house? always loads of logs available in the countryside.

I back up what raysparx has said. I used to work in the lpg industry and wondered how on earth folks could afford to pay for lpg. If you can wear the initial outlay for an oil boiler, I think you'd recoup your expense for that far quicker than with an lpg boiler.
Don't know what the difference would be other than the price per litre.

Apart from the price differential between LPG and oil, you need to remember that LPG produces far less heat per litre of fuel than oil. From memory, about one half, I think

Indeed, LPG was a seen as being very expensive, however this was partly due to customers being trapped in long contracts with little control. However, the Competition Comission has ruled that customers are now eligible to easily switch supplier to find the right deal or service, as long as your existing contract has passed the two year mark. I'm with LPG Home Heat, who supply LPG across the North of England. They're a small company, but their service is great. I have a home care package system which was specifically tailored to my useage and needs. Their website has loads of information about the Competition Comission rulings and how to switch. If you're already an existing LPG user, you probably won't even have to change your tank either.
