Sunday Times Prize Crossword 4453 Sunday October 2nd 2011
5 Answers
I have come to a little fallow time with the Sunday Times crossword at present so I thought I'd ask about something that has been puzzling me for some time.
When one presses a link on the internet there is a little aubible "pop" as the connection is made. I'm sure there is a technical name for this but I don't know it. When I have been into the AB as now and then come out of it my computer continues to give out these popping sounds and random and at frequent intervals very often as a double pop even when I log out of the AB and sever all links with it. Has anyone else experienced this? What are these noises and how can I erase them? The only solution I have found is to shut down and restart which is a chore.
Now, can anyone get me re-started with say, 3 across, clue: Challenging type seen in different locations and clubs (10).

When the photo was taken she was nine weeks old. She is a Jack Russell of course and is already paying her keep as she has cleared all the rabbits and squirrels from my very large garden although she has made friends with "carrots" who is one of the cats who visits from the farm further down the lane.
Mr. Ross I (the first) was a dog we had when I was a baby who grew up with me and all our dogs have been called the same. When my Father was asked why he always called his dogs Mr. Ross he explained that the first one was a bit of a wanderer and used to disappear for up to half a day at a time. Although the locals all knew the dog and where he lived and the roads in the 1940's were not so busy as now and he was always brought home by someone even when he occasionally used to hop on the bus on his own and visit the local town of Clitheroe my Father thought it prudent to have a collar with an address tag attached. When we replaced her with another dog he explained he wasn't going to go to the expense of having to buy a new tag so all our dogs were called Mr.Ross. It was all a joke of course but the tradition has stuck and hence we now have Mr. Ross VII and I'm now a pensioner but I remember all the others as they were all different and had their foibles and personalities.
