Hypodermic Needles
25 Answers
Following another thread, I'm interested.
How many of you have ever come across hypodermic needles while out and about? (I'm not talking to those of you who spend your free time in drug dens).
I've never seen one. I must live in a reallllllyyyyy good area.

My friend bless her...her bro was an addict. She took the nearest fleece on the coat stand to wear to the shop and when she put her hand in there was a needle!
Infact my aunt worked in a shop and was threatned with a dirty needle once xx

I stopped walking Max round two sites because it was that bad, on one occassion I was still there when the law arrived, this police woman got out of her car and wandered round spraying the needles with bright pink paint. I asked if that was all she was going to do and she replied that was all they could do as they weren't allowed to handle them (S & H) and a dedicated unit would come and take them away. As I said I stopped using that site but one of the other regulars told me it was a fortnight before they were removed
yep...see 'em every day - i work in a rather unsavoury area of an inner city 'ghetto'. the lovely community (if that's what you can call it - they would sell their granny for a rock or two) seem perfectly happy to treat their local area like a dustbin, so i see pretty much everything. i've even been mugged twice when going to the local shop for my patients (i'm a psych nurse) as people recognise our badges/alarms/keys/crap and know we carry some money for that purpose.
i have never understood why they built a new hospital in that area and on the same site (given the problems of the old loony bin that was there before) and the drug/alcohol/crime problems of our clientele (sp.) persist to this day - even to the point of our patients being escorted on leave and making some unfortunate member of staff visit a drug den before they come back to the hospital. we have a huge problem with drugs on the ward at times (blatant use and sometimes dealing) and not even the local police are that interested in coming to assist us if we have called them.
i live a very short walk away from the hospital in a terraced house - mere streets away (but the same type of housing) - in a more civilised area and it is completely different. clean, tidy and neighbourly - but people who don't use drugs and have basic manners and morals. it is still a deprived area with lots of student accommodation, but the residents don't treat it like Sugar. i have never understood people who consciously make their own back (and front!) yards a complete and utter pig sty and continue to live in it.
