£30.00 + per hour for sure.

Should be £40 / hour or a bit more. Over a working year of 200 days of 7.5 hours, that grosses up to about four times the mechanic's nominal salary. You can't run a business on any smaller a mark-up than that.

Main Dealer or local garage??


Main dealer (Audi, BMW etc) £100 plus per hour , local dealer £30-40

I felt like I've been lied too and ripped off for a job just to unscrew a lambda sensor on my car which cost me £100. I initially tried but unsuccefully remove the sensor, so forced to take it to a garage to get the job done. They claimed the hexagon head had been damaged which made it difficult to remove and they had to take the manifold out to remove it. But on closer inspection there was no evidence of any bolts been touched instead the sensor hexagon head been savagely chiseled at the edge to get the job done.
