Questionable Parenting

Recently visited a friend after a very long time. I knew she had kids, but they were most certainly too young to remember me when a first saw them. After arriving at her home and being welcomed, i noticed that one of the kids was wearing a straitjacket. Shortly after the other appeared wearing the same garment. I was stumped by this, but my friend said they were fine and getting ready to go to bed. She played it as if it was a completely normal thing and I'm wondering if it is or not?

I don’t really know what to say about the jackets. They looked like they came straight from a hospital. I think they are~9 and ~12 and neither have any needs as far as I’m aware.

The weirdest thing I have ever witnessed was when a boy in ny my daughters class at school when they we're just 5 years old loved to dress in his older sisters clothes at weekends. 

But the worst part was his parents would post the pictures of the 5 year old boy wearing girls dresses on Facebook for all to see, when surely they should be discouraging this weird behaviour at such a young age. 

 

I don't know what was worse, they boy wearing dresses at 5 years old, or the parents publishing it. 

 

Very odd world we live in these days. 🤔

renegade, I knew a boy like that in the 60s, would dress up in his mother's close.   In the 80s he was wearing leather short shorts and leather waistcoats, living it large in the nightclubs. There has always been boys like that.

I think what is shocking to me was the boy was only 5 years old. So the parents surely should not upload the pics on Facebook. It leaves the child vunerable towards pedophiles. 

 

If anything they should have been discouraging it surely?  If it was son behaving like that I would have a chat with him and try to say this isn't normal, and it leaves you wide open to be bullied, or worse.
